Introduced at Infocom 2009 an improved firmware for DME series digital mixing systems.

yamaha_dmeCoinciding with InfoComm'09, Yamaha presented today in Orlando (Florida) an updated firmware for its DME digital mixing systems. This firmware adds a new Program Ducker component and other advancements to improve overall speed and efficiency. The new Program Ducker component includes significantly longer attack and release times than the existing DME Ducker component. Mono and stereo types can be flexibly configured to accommodate a wide range of applications, offering all the versatility needed for installations ranging from banquet halls to theme parks, while also providing camera tally link functionality for broadcast, an area in which the DME series is gaining popularity. The Program Ducker can also be oscillator driven, allowing the output of a single oscillator to be used to simultaneously drive multiple channels, for example in a 5.1 surround sound installation.

DME Firmware version 3.5 also features a number of enhancements, including emergency clock support for DME Satellite ES Series devices for even greater reliability on ring-connected EtherSound networks; cascading across groups of devices so that audio can be transmitted and received between different groups of devices in large-scale systems, and a compiler algorithm for more efficient use of DSP resources. Processing times when handling large configurations with many connections, for example, have been significantly reduced.

Other advancements include a vast improvement in the writing speed of the internal flash ROM, greatly reducing the time needed to sync and store files, as well as native support for the latest MiniYGDAI cards, including the MY16-ES64, MY16-MD64 and MY16-EX drives.

In addition, Yamaha's DME Designer software also recognizes external device icons added for newly launched products, including the IMX644 digital mixing system, the IPA8200 multi-channel power amplifier and also the icons for the new NEXO speakers.

DME Firmware version 3.5 will be available as a free download for all owners of DME series devices from the end of July.
