New firmware for Alexa

Correction with LUT applicable to its outputs, automatic white balance, camera return output, clip playback with embedded audio and variable fan speed selection are now some of the improvements in the ARRI camera.

ARRI has introduced some better firmware to its popular Alexa camera. One of these advances is automatic white balance through compensation of the R and B channels over green, thus creating an image without color deviation, which allows the balance to be altered at will.

Another improvement is the possibility of customizing the gamma curves through look files and a correction with LUT applicable to the camera outputs.

As for audio, the possibility of playing clips with embedded audio (HDSDI) now stands out.

Mechanically, it should be noted that as was already the case in the RED One, Alexa will now allow you to adjust the fan speed according to the outside temperature conditions or if during recording you want to minimize the annoying noise generated by the turbine for recording scenes with direct sound.

Finally, it should be noted that thanks to this firmware update, we will be able to have a return output, thus being able to monitor a second camera in the operator's viewfinder to match shots, compare previous shots (viewing material recorded from an SD card) or between two cameras connected via wireless.

In addition to these free updates, ARRI will soon release special functionality for the cameras through a paid software licensing process. The first feature will be the new unmorphing in the EVF-1 viewfinder and MON OUT.
