TSA and Sgi will carry out the broadcast service in Europe for Sundance HD

The channel specialized in independent cinema from Rainbow Media Holdings LLC arrives in Europe in its high definition version thanks to Telefónica Servicios Audiovisuales, whose integration includes a NAS system from Sgi.

The systems integrator TSA (Telefónica Servicios Audiovisuales), a company belonging to the Telefónica group, has carried out the implementation of a Sgi NAS system intended to cover the Sundance Channel broadcast service in its high definition version.

Until now, TSA hosting had a NAS made up of an Altix 350 server from SGI and an InfiniteStorage 4000 storage system with common storage repository functions for Imagenio's post-production department. To cover the Sundance channel broadcast service, a new Altix 350 server has been incorporated that will allow it to have redundancy or high availability for disaster recovery. In addition, the channel has expanded its storage capacity by 16 new disks that are incorporated into the InfiniteStorage 4000 and that will be used to store the channel's content for broadcast in high definition from the SGI NAS server.

El principal valor añadido de las mejoras llevadas a cabo para el servicio de emisión de Sundance Channel HD es que además de obtener redundancia de sistemas, con una misma infraestructura de almacenamiento se da cobertura a dos funcionalidades diferentes como son el acceso y trabajo desde el departamento de postproducción y a la vez, la emisión del canal en Alta Definición (HD). Luis Garrido, director de ventas de Digital Content Media en Sgi, ha señalado que “esta capacidad de los equipos de Sgi pone de manifiesto el gran ancho de banda y estabilidad que los sistemas de Sgi son capaces de proporcionar, permitiendo que necesidades de departamentos de producción o explotación diferentes puedan compartir una misma infraestructura de almacenamiento de datos. Además, nuestros sistemas permiten realizar ampliaciones en caliente en el caso de que se requiera mayor capacidad”, ha manifestado . Garrido ha añadido que “este proyecto es consecuencia de la estrecha colaboración que mantenemos con TSA con quien hemos llevado a cabo con éxito otros importantes desarrollos como en la Radio Televisión del Principado de Asturias”
