New distributed management and archive system on Popular TV
Popular TV improves its IT facilities with a new distributed management and content archiving system for which it has relied on the MediaBox software solution from the Xtream company belonging to the Vitelsa Group and the SGI Altix XE250 and SGI InfiniteStorage 220 NAS storage servers.
Popular Tv has implemented a new distributed management and content archiving system using the MediaBox software solution from the Xtream company belonging to the Vitelsa Group and the SGI Altix XE250 servers and SGI InfiniteStorage 220 NAS storage. The chosen solution uses SGI's Altix terabytes and through an Ethernet network, it allows up to 70 clients to work simultaneously at 25 Mb/S per second, guaranteeing bandwidth. Among other functions, the TV network uses the system to exchange content between delegations.
Among the main advantages of the Altix XE servers installed at Popular TV are their optimal reliability, their ability to reduce infrastructure costs and their power. Likewise, the InfiniteStorage 220 storage system guarantees coverage of your main storage challenges and allows you to have maximum performance for simultaneous access by a large number of users, allowing scalability without technical stops as required.
Vitelsa and Xtream regularly collaborate with Sgi on this type of projects, with Xtream having certified Sgi's hardware. Among other similar projects carried out by Vitelsa,
Luis Garrido, sales director of Digital Content Media at Sgi, has stated regarding the collaboration with Popular TV that "for Sgi it is a benchmark as a success story and demonstrates our ability to offer the most effective and reliable technological support so that digital televisions can have the most advanced technology and offer their services with all the guarantees and with the highest possible quality."
