Digidesign Venue SC48, an all-in-one console

The Venue SC48 fully integrated live sound system combines all I/O, DSP processing and touch control in a single, compact console, making it a portable and affordable system, perfect for audio capture in radio and television recordings at the same event venue.

Although the Digidesign Venue SC48 console is designed for live performances, there are numerous occasions when for concert broadcasts on radio and television or in post-production studios, this console becomes ideal for its easy transport, small dimensions and high performance. Not only does the console incorporate Venue's famous features, such as support for studio-quality plug-ins, seamless integration with Pro Tools LE systems, and complete portability of concert files, offering innovative workflows that simplify the mixing process.

The Venue SC48 is Digidesign's new digital console that provides a compact and complete solution for audio and processing and is intended for small and medium-sized live sound, club, AV and broadcast applications.

The new Venue SC48 combines 48 inputs and 16 outputs (expandable to 32), digital signal processing, touch control, professional plug-ins from Digidesign and other manufacturers, and full compatibility with the Venue family. The direct connection to Pro Tools LE allows the user to record events and also perform Virtual Soundcheck.

The control per channel gives access, visualization and also allows the adjustment of each parameter with the press of a single button and in addition, the new color coding by groups allows immediate access during mixing. The "Flex Channel" center channel allows immediate access to any input that is considered vital, such as the lead singer's microphone, without having to change layers.

Another interesting feature is that when you select a VCA or a group, all the inputs related to it appear on the adjacent channels without having to search for them by the different layers, making mixing easier and faster.

All Venue systems, including the new SC48, Mix Rack, Profile and D-Show use the same D-Show software so users can use their "Show Files" on any of the systems interchangeably.

Seamless integration with Pro Tools

SC48 features a Pro Tools LE FireWire interface, which makes it easy to connect to a computer (available separately) with Pro Tools LE software (included with SC48) for recording and archiving live shows or for audio playback. With Venue and Pro Tools you can also perform virtual sound checks – a process that allows you to play back recorded tracks from a previous performance and adjust the mix before the rehearsal or current performance without the need for the band or artists to be present.

Powerful workflow innovations

SC48 introduces several new features aimed at optimizing the workflow. Using the unique Channel Control, the simple press of a button gives you immediate access and control over the function of any channel, including input, EQ and dynamics parameters, and aux sends, using the console's eight rotary colour encoders. Use the unique Flex Channel in latch mode to assign and gain permanent access to a specific channel, so you never lose sight of the star of the show. Take advantage of VCA Spill, which provides unprecedented access to specific channels of a mix without having to navigate banks. And maximize your efficiency by using GPI (General Purpose Interface) I/O and D-Show software to create custom macros, allowing you to perform multiple functions at the touch of a button, pedal press, or fader.

A software platform

All Venue systems run on one common software platform – D-Show software, the industry's most comprehensive and user-friendly control application. D-Show software sets new standards of efficiency in operation and workflow, providing instant access and full control over any system function. Just press a button on the control surface or click on the screen to access inputs, outputs, concert files, snapshots, patchbays, plug-ins, and user options. And because all Venue systems share this same software platform, engineers only need to learn it once on any Venue system, large or small, and can create and upload concert files for use on any Venue system.
