Televisions and producers trust XDCAM without Sony tape

TVE, Telecinco, Antena 3, Plural Entertainment or Canary Videoreport, are some of the Spanish chains and producers that bet on Sony XDCAM technology for their programs consolidating in the format not only for production but also for storage and exchange.

More and more televisions and producers are in our country that are committed to Sony XDCAM technology for the production of their programs, due to the combination of image quality, flexibility, efficiency and the advantages of the album such as storage and exchange support.

Sony's XDCAM range provides a reliable to extreme solution for capture, production and distribution using a workflow without tape based on MXF files. With this equipment, producers and televisions significantly increase their efficiency, reducing production times while maintenance and operation costs, since discs are up to 30% more affordable than tapes and can be reused on more than 1,000 occasions without errors.

TVE

This is the case of TVE that has recently acquired various XDCAM HD422 systems in response to its needs in Telecine rooms, mobile unit in HD as well as for the facilities of the institute, in which among other activities it highlights its training offer to professionals in the sector. Some of the XDCAM family teams incorporated into the public chain equipment are the PDW-700 camcorders, PDW-F1600, PDW-HD1500 and PDW-U1 recording units.

Telecinco

Telecinco also reached an agreement with Sony in 2008 for the acquisition of XDCAM equipment with which to replace its Betacam SP production teams for news and programs. In total, more than 150 units of XDCAM equipment were acquired with which the chain has progressively carried out its migration to solutions without tape.

Antena 3

Antena 3, on the other hand, also renewed in 2008 part of its Betacam SX park to move to Sony XDCAM. To do this, Sony equipped its facilities with more than 80 XDCAM teams between camcorders, decks and recorders, which joined the most 70 teams with which VSAT/CBM made the production of news in the Antena 3 regional centers.

Plural Entertaiment

For their part, the producers also bet on Sony's XDCAM equipment for their productions. Recently Plural Entertainment, producer of the Prisa Group and one of the most relevant in the Spanish -speaking markets, has chosen the Sony XDCAM system for the production of some of its latest programs for the main Spanish television chains, such as the reality reform of four, the magazine As is Antena 3 and the contest My family contra todos de Telecinco. También es el caso de Videoreport Canarias, que eligió la tecnología XDCAM de Sony como formato ENG para dar servicio a la cadena pública autonómica TV Canaria con más de 45 equipos XDCAM.

The television production company Dorna Sports, exclusive owner of the commercial and audiovisual rights of the Motorcycling World Championship, has opted this year for the high definition for what has had Sony's XDCAM HD422 technology. Their quality, versatility and robustness together with the efficiency of working with files, allows them to cover television chains from all over the world faster than ever, in multiple formats and with the highest quality of HD recording.

To do this they had twenty Sony HDC-1500 cameras covering the track, four wireless cameras in Pit Lane from entrance to Boxes, a camera in a helicopter that flew over the track, some eighty on-board microcamaras mounted on the motorcycles and the new PDW-700 camcorders of XDCAM HD422, which complement each other PDW-U1 and PDW-HD1500 decks that provide all the connectivity that Dorna and the televisions to which they serve.

In this way, Dorna joins the growing list of European televisions and producers that bet on the XDCAM family without Sony tape in its HD422 version for the production of their programs. This is the case of Italian public television Rai, which has reached an agreement with Sony to migrate its systems to an HD infrastructure without tapes over the next three years, in which it will invest six million euros. For this, RAI has acquired 180 Camcorders PDW-700 and 180 Sony PDW-HD1500 decks, which will use for its productions from Telediaries to series and documentaries.

The Turkish National Broadcaster (Türkiye Radyo Ve Televizyon Kurumu) has also recently chosen this Sony technology for migration to an HD system without tapes. After the agreement reached, the company will provide TRT thirty Camcorders PDW-700, twelve PDW-HD1500 recorders and eight PDW-U1 portable recorders, which will be used for their own production in the seven chain channels. Likewise, the Polish state chain TVP has recently selected this Sony format to migrate its news channel to HD, acquiring 29 PDW-700 camcorders and 14 PDW-HD1500 decks.

In the section of high-level television production, the innovative Camcorder PDW-F800 of Sony offers maximum performance (cineral compatibility, fast/slow camera recording, Hypergamma, among others) while a guarantee solution for HD production. With this, Sony offers a path to high -level production without tapes with operating identical equipment to HDCAM camcorders but with the efficiency of a working -based workflow and the advantages of the professional optical disc, which for less than one euro per GB of capacity allows to store the materials in a robust, reliable and lasting way.
