PP, CiU and Ciutadans have announced that they will amend, for different reasons, the text approved on Tuesday reinforcing dubbing into Catalan.

After the voices raised by exhibitors and distributors completely rejecting the Cinema Law in Catalonia, since in their opinion it will cause the fall of cinematographic supply and the consequent loss of employment, now it is the turn of the opposition. Both PP, CiU and Ciutadans have already announced that they will fully amend the new law that establishes the obligation to show half of the copies of all films dubbed or subtitled into Catalan.

While the PP understands that the project will not contribute to the recovery of the sector by "imposing a policy of sanctions instead of dialogue", for Ciutadans the dubbing and subtitling quotas are inadmissible.

CiU doubts whether the sanction route is appropriate, which is why this group will present partial amendments during its parliamentary processing.
Despite this opposition, the Executive chaired by José Montilla through his Minister of Culture, Joan Manel Tresserras, has already warned that very few changes will be accepted in this project.
