Coinciding with the twentieth anniversary of the start of Antena 3 broadcasts, the Kings have visited the group's facilities accompanied by the network's executives, including its technical director José María Casaos, who has reviewed the changes produced during these two decades.

For the first time, Don Juan Carlos and Doña Sofía visited a private network and, coinciding with their twentieth anniversary on the air, they went to the headquarters of the Antena 3 Group in San Sebastián de los Reyes (Madrid). Upon their arrival, at six in the afternoon, the Kings were received by the president of the Antena 3 Group, José Manuel Lara; the CEO, Silvio González and the Secretary of State for Communication, Nieves Goicoechea. After the initial greeting, they attended to the print media and went to the President's office where the members of the company's Board of Directors, the CEO of the RTL Group, Gerhard Zeiler, the president of the Bertelsmann Foundation, Liz Mohn, as well as the wife of the president of Antena 3, Consuelo García Píriz, were waiting for them.

The monarchs personally greeted all of them and subsequently signed the book of honor, where Don Juan Carlos wrote and Doña Sofía signed: “With congratulations and affection in the celebration of the 20th anniversary.”

Interest in technology

During its two decades of life, Antena 3 has been a pioneer in numerous technical issues: it was the first communication company in Spain to launch SMS text messages, have its own channel on YouTube, broadcast its entire series on the Internet, distribute its offer through mobile phones or the first to incorporate its series through the PlayStation... And all this under the concept of television 3.0, a new generation.

In this part of the visit, within the newsroom, the operation of the news digitalization system was explained to them. The Kings have been able to verify that the journalist, from the personal computer at his or her workplace, can comprehensively carry out all the tasks necessary to produce a news story and for its subsequent distribution both to the different news spaces on Antena 3, as well as for its publication on the Internet or on mobile phones.
