Television interactivity reaches a new dimension with Ant3.0, an application developed by La Moderna and Intrasonics for Apple and Android smartphones and tablets based on an audio signal recognition system from Antena 3 programs.

Antena 3 launches this Monday the 27th, with the broadcast of the prime-time space The anthill, Ant3.0, a new application that will connect, in real time, live television content with Apple and Android smartphones and tablets.

With this tool, Antena 3 will become the first network in the world to offer the viewer this possibility of living a truly fun, live interactive experience. The only similar precedent that exists is its use in an episode of the series Grey's Anatomy in the United States.

Ant3.0 is an application developed by La Moderna and Intrasonics and is sponsored by Movistar, the first company to support this technology.

The launch of this new communication system will mean that with Antena 3 the programs will begin on television and will continue on smartphones and tablets starting this Monday and throughout the week with The anthill 3.0.

To enjoy the exclusive content during the entertainment space presented by Pablo Motos, users only have to download Ant3.0 on their mobile device or tablet and keep the application open during the broadcast of the program. “Events” will appear on the screen through which the viewer will be able to receive content, give their opinion and participate, as well as additional information related to what is being broadcast on the Antena 3 Group network.

The spectator, protagonist

The interaction proposed by Ant3.0 is very diverse and allows the viewer to receive exclusive videos of their favorite program, help information, give their opinion or answer questions... This content will be offered in the form of events that may appear related to the program on broadcast at that moment or associated with specific advertisements that are considered of interest to the user.

The way in which the contents will be viewed will be through streaming or direct download. In streaming delivery, the user receives a notification indicating the possibility of viewing exclusive videos or photos. If you accept, the content plays automatically on your mobile device or tablet.

In direct download, the content is stored in a folder. Playback is automatic and there is the possibility of archiving it, so that it can be enjoyed as many times as the user wants.

The application will not only provide audiovisual events, but will also link to Internet pages (Facebook, Twitter...) related to what is being broadcast on Antena 3.

Audio recognition

The basis of Ant3.0's operation is the decoding of the audio signal of the programs. Therefore, for it to work correctly, both the volume of the television and the ambient noise have to be in line with the needs of the technology. With these basic conditions, the instructions to enjoy the interactive experience are very easy for the user and are specified by the application itself.

The Ant3.0 application, designed by La Moderna, was born with the technical name of Interaction, a technology that introduces acoustic tags into a sound (music, speech, noise...) that are not perceived by the human ear, but by the microphone of a mobile device, be it a smartphone or tablet. These tags include a coded instruction that is transformed into audiovisual content when said devices capture the sound.

La Moderna is a marketing agency focused on the development of new communication concepts, specialized in the use of new technologies. Among other innovations, it was a pioneer in Spain in the use of two-dimensional codes.

Intrasonics, a company located in Cambridge focused on the development of the most innovative technology applied to today's world, has developed Interaction technology, creating a successful audio coding system that allows different possibilities in audience measurement and communication projects.
