Intelligent dynamic marketing with Philips at ISE

MMD, the new entity behind Philips-branded LCD monitors and digital signage solutions, is presenting its new Smart Insert solution at this year's Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) show.

The Smart Insert system, which is currently being presented in Amsterdam under the MMD brand, enables an insert in the back cover of the screen that allows discreet placement of a compact computer or multimedia device. Additionally, the Smart Insert system offers system integrators and solution providers greater management flexibility and improved maintenance compared to all-in-one digital signage displays. The system has been developed by Philips to allow easy updating, maintenance and replacement of the professional computer without the need to replace the entire screen. Updates are required when moving to another content management system or a more advanced resolution or content format.

As Wilfred de Man, sales and marketing director for EMEA, commented at ISE 2010, "with the Smart Insert concept we offer a unique solution that combines the elegant design of the most modern Philips flat screens and the advantages of an integrated computer. Likewise, the Smart Insert offers hardware and software flexibility, the possibility of future PC upgrades if the customer decides to upgrade to high-definition content, and an easy, low-cost solution."

Close collaboration with AOpen

Para añadir productos a la gama Smart Insert, MMD ha colaborado con el fabricante de ordenadores compactos AOpen, y ha desarrollado una ranura especial para acomodar el tamaño compacto de su gama de digital engines. Los ordenadores de AOpen han sido especialmente creados para las necesidades del mercado de señalización pública y son pequeños, potentes, energéticamente eficientes y además encajan perfectamente en el Smart Insert. Gracias a sus componentes de calidad militar, AOpen puede ofrecer soluciones de hardware fiables que pueden funcionar a máximo rendimiento las 24 horas del día. Asimismo, AOpen ofrece sistemas sin ventiladores que pueden funcionar en entornos polvorientos, por lo que el reproductor es fiable en cualquier lugar.

Ventajas principales del Smart Insert

El sistema Smart Insert supone una gran alternativa a los ordenadores integrados en las pantallas y aporta la suficiente profundidad para la mayoría de los pequeños ordenadores. Además, si hay algún problema con el ordenador, el único coste será el de sustitución del ordenador y no de toda la pantalla. Smart Insert permite al usuario usar un ordenador básico para sus necesidades presentes de contenidos, y actualizarlo más tarde cuando otra tecnología, como el contenido Full HD, se haya popularizado.

El sistema Philips Smart Insert está actualmente disponible en los modelos BDL4251V y BDL5231V. A partir de marzo de 2010 estará disponible en el BDL4230E y a partir de abril en el BDL6551V.
