New Lineo digitizes its screens in Portugal
New Lineo Cinemas opts for Christie CP2000 projectors to renew its theaters with digital projection. Edecine has installed nine Christie projectors (seven CP2000-S and two CP2000-ZX) in different NLC rooms in the cities of Lisbon, Alfragide, Cascais and Leiria.
New Lineo Cinemas (NLC), an Israeli exhibition company that established itself in Portugal in 1996, is digitizing one hundred percent of its screens with projectors from Christie's CP2000 range. NLC has 39 screens in Portugal (with a 10% market share) and will open another 20 in 2010. The Portuguese company Edecine, with more than 25 years of experience as a cinema integrator, is responsible for the supply and installation of all the equipment.
So far, Edecine has installed nine Christie projectors (seven CP2000-S and two CP2000-ZX) in different NLC rooms in the cities of Lisbon, Alfragide, Cascais and Leiria. Four of those screens feature stereoscopic 3D digital projection using Xpand's active glasses system. It is expected that by 2010, one hundred percent of this chain's screens in Portugal (about 60 screens by that date) will be equipped with Christie CP2000 series DLP Cinema projectors, which comply with the DCI (Digital Cinema Initiatives) standard, and Doremi servers.
