Panasonic's new compact 3D camcorder impresses professionals

During the conference that Panasonic celebrates this Wednesday in Barcelona and next day 1 in Madrid, professionals are getting to know first-hand the first compact Full HD 3D camcorder that has revolutionized stereographic capture since it has two lenses, integrating both the camera head and the dual memory card recorder in a single compact body.

Throughout the day today, Wednesday, May 26, in Barcelona and next June 1 in Madrid Panasonic Solutions Company is presenting to the Spanish market its new integrated Full HD 3D camcorder with dual lenses.

Distributed in sessions that will begin every hour from 11 in the morning to 2 in the afternoon and from 4 to 7 in the afternoon, producers, directors of photography and 3D technicians are attending with great interest the practical demonstrations with the new AG-3DA1 even with a live stereographic signal.

One aspect that is becoming evident in these presentations is the flexibility and comfort of the workflow with the material recorded with the new Panasonic 3D camcorder, highlighting the use of an editing and mastering plug-in for Final Cut Pro, Motion and After Effects. Regarding material output, the user can choose between multiple formats (side by side, over/under, checkerboard, interlaced or anaglyph).

Cabe también destacar que desde el propio camcorder es posible ajustar la convergencia, el control separado de zoom (izquierdo y derecho), rotación individual, saturación, contraste, brillo o, incluso, llevar a cabo un autoescalado. La cámara permite también trabajar con keyframes facilitando así el acceso al material grabado. El ajuste 3D se puede realizar rápidamente mediante tres preselecciones de fácil acceso: visualización de convergencia de imagen derecha (User 1), simultánea de L y R en mix (User 2) y rango de conformidad 3D.

Durante la presentación se están comentado también algunos aspectos a tener muy en cuenta a la hora de abordar un rodaje en 3D como evitar un eje de paralaje demasiado amplio respetando la distancia de convergencia mínima o violar la ventana evitando objetos recortados delante del punto de convergencia. Desde Panasonic recomiendan también utilizar frecuentemente el rando de conformidad (User 3) de la cámara para asegurar que los parámetros son correctos.

Aquellos profesionales que pasen por el WTC de Cornellá o por la presentación que Panasonic llevará la próxima semana a cabo en Madrid podrán comprobar también las prestaciones del nuevo monitor BT-3DL2550, especialmente concebido para aplicaciones estereográficas.

Panasonic's first Full HD 3D camcorder has revolutionized stereographic capture as it has two lenses, integrating both the camera head and the dual memory card recorder in a single compact body. Conventional 3D systems are built from two film or broadcast cameras. Typically, the two cameras are installed on a rig side by side horizontally, with the axes of both cameras approximately 6.5 cm apart (equivalent to the distance between human eyes). Although this can be achieved with small cameras, broadcast or film cameras present great complexities due to the size of their bodies and lenses to be mounted on a rig with a short one.

Unlike other 3D systems, this camcorder allows video recording with great mobility and from all angles, significantly reducing the time required for assembly and adjustments.

With the launch of this 3D camcorder, Panasonic aims to promote the production of high-quality 3D content through a faster and more efficient system. Time previously spent adjusting delicate 3D rigs can now be spent on more creative activities, thanks to the camera's ease of use and portability.
