A total of 85 live broadcasts will be carried out this year by the American ESPN in 3D. To facilitate the enormous flow of material in contribution and distribution, this broadcaster has trusted Ericson technology. Among the new equipment acquired by ESPN, the CExH42 MPEG-4 AVC HD encoders stand out, which will be used for the contribution of 3D links, and the EN8190 HD encoders and RX8200 receivers.

All this equipment guarantees control of the coding and synchronization parameters, facilitating a completely simultaneous transmission of the stereoscopic image packets in both the signal for the right and left eyes.

ESPN will also use Ericson coding for the transmission in HD MPEG-4 AVC of the rest of the signals in high definition, in this case in 2D.

This new equipment will be released coinciding with the World Cup in South Africa on June 11.
