This new center located in Las Palmas, which has the latest digital technology, will be the headquarters of TVE and RNE. Another national public media outlet, the Efe agency, will be located in the same complex. With more than 5,600 square meters, this new center becomes a reference in the RTVE territorial network.

RTVE in the Canary Islands is making its debut. This Monday, June 28, the Corporation's new production center in the Canary Islands was officially inaugurated, which will be located in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. TVE, RNE and Agencia EFE share this new building, the inauguration of which was presided over by the Chief Executive of the Canary Islands, Paulino Rivero, and the president of RTVE, Alberto Oliart. From this center, public radio and television will continue to carry out their own production programs and connections between the Archipelago and the Peninsula.

A new stage

With this inauguration, TVE in the Canary Islands will leave behind a first stage in the Casa del Marino (1964-1971) and a second, longer one in the Milton square, in Ciudad Jardín (1971-2009). In this second headquarters, a technological revolution was experienced, as it had a satellite connection with the Peninsula and a regional advertising circuit.

TVE-C made its first live connection throughout Spain on May 21, 1977, with the celebration of the 6th Atlantic Song Festival. It collected historical moments, such as the eruption of the Teneguía volcano in La Palma, in 1971, whose images were broadcast by networks around the world, or the accident at the Los Rodeos airport (Tenerife, 1977) in which 583 people died. TVE in the Canary Islands also followed the arrival of man to the Moon from the INTA (National Institute of Aerospace Technology), and facilitated knowledge of Africa, by being in charge of the correspondent for the north of the Black Continent and covering the Green March, the decolonization of the Sahara and the conflict that persists today.

Since its inception, RNE in the Canary Islands has contributed to the cohesion of the islands, with correspondents in each of them. The RNE delegation in Las Palmas has been a protagonist in the political, economic, social, cultural and sporting life of the province. Iconic programs such as The hour of the soldier o The Rebotallo, endure in the memory of the airwaves, as do the emblematic voices of Sebastián Sarmiento, Federico Campos, Pepita Chirivella, Javier Jordán, Benito Falcón, Antonio Betancort or Cristina García Ramos.

Own production

From the new center in Las Palmas, TVE in the Canary Islands produces its programs Telecanarias, Canary Islands Noon, 59 seconds y Tender. The rest, Multiplanet y Telecanarias Weekend They are carried out from the TVE center in Tenerife. TVE also has information units on the rest of the islands.

RNE's programming includes the regional news disconnections at 6:25 and 6:50, and the provincial ones on Radio 5 at 8:15 and 18:45. At 12:05 from Monday to Friday, the magazine starts Canary Islands Midday. The regional news Archipelago News It is broadcast from Monday to Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 2:35 p.m., followed by Archipelago Sports, until 3:00 p.m. In addition, on Saturdays they offer the weekly summary Seven Days Archipelago, and on Sundays Parliament and the scientific dissemination program living planet.
