The San Sebastián Festival will have a new director starting in 2011
After a decade at the head of the San Sebastián International Film Festival, Mikel Olaciregui will leave the direction in January 2011. His successor will be José Luis Rebordinos, who was already part of the festival's management and selection committee.
Citing strictly professional reasons and to promote “a generational change”, Mikel Olaciregui has announced his intention to leave the direction of the San Sebastián International Film Festival as of January 2011. From that date on, José Luis Rebordinos will succeed him at the head of the Basque competition, who, since he was part of the festival's management and selection committee, has been directing in recent years two of the film events held in San Sebastián (the Fantastic and Horror Film Week and the Human Rights Festival).
However, responsibility for the next edition, number 58, which will be held from September 17 to 25, will remain in the hands, as announced by the organization, "for all purposes, of the current director."
