The Valencian company Mirage Technologies presents the technology that will make this possible at the E-Market show. To do this, the firm is working on the design of transmission systems that can support the multi-view image package (or images seen from different places); and in tools that convert stereo images (two views) into 3D or multiview.

From the couch at home and without glasses. This way we will be able to see the next football matches, movies and even television advertisements in 3D in just five years. This was announced this Wednesday by Salvador Bayarri, head of the Valencian company Mirage Technologies, during the first day of the Content Market and new Audiovisual Technologies E-Market, which is being held at the Palau de la Música in Valencia this week.

“3D without the need to use glasses will reach homes in four or five years, at most,” Bayarri commented during his conference. Mirage Technologies is working with the technology necessary to “put glasses on the television screen”, so that the viewer can enjoy multiple vision, from various angles, without having to use them, as is happening right now.

To do this, the firm is working on the design of transmission systems that can support the multi-view image package (or images seen from different places); and in tools that convert stereo images (two views) into 3D or multiview. “This technology can be used in homes, but not in the cinema, where it will be necessary to continue using glasses to see 3D, given the large size of the screen,” comments Bayarri. In any case, users who want to enjoy 3D movies or shows from their television will need to purchase a special screen, as well as a new DVD.

3D technology has become the protagonist of this second edition of e.Market, which this Thursday will include among its speakers Leigh Goulden, representative of one of the companies that participated in the creation of the film Avatar. In addition, a workshop on 3D sound systems will take place in the afternoon and different demos will be held throughout the day by participating companies.

Berlanga Awards

E-Market, organized by the Association of Federated Valencian Companies (Aesav) and financed by Impiva, will have a luxury closing tonight: the delivery of the 2010 Berlanga Awards at the RTVV facilities. An event that awards the most important annual awards in Valencian audiovisual production and that this year becomes an emotional event in which tribute will be paid to the late Valencian filmmaker Luís García Berlanga.
