Apple has announced that it expects sales of its new Apple TV to reach one million units by the end of this week worldwide. The new Apple TV offers the user a simple way to watch HD movies and television series (a service not available in some countries such as Spain), as well as streaming content from Netflix (in the US), YouTube, Flickr and MobileMe, on any HD television. Currently, iTunes users are renting and purchasing more than 400,000 TV episodes and more than 150,000 movies per day.

Now, and thanks to AirPlay available a few days ago in the iOS 4.2 update, users can stream their music, videos and photos from their iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch to the new Apple TV, which thus becomes an interface for iOS devices.

Users can also control Apple TV with their iPad, iPhone or iPod touch using the Remote app, available as a free app in the App Store.
