At the Mobile World Congress 2011 in Barcelona, Cisco has presented MOVE, an innovative platform designed so that service operators can manage, optimize and make profitable the growing volume of mobile data traffic. Among other advantages, it allows video downloading and mobile data traffic over a Wi-Fi network with the same level of service, facilitating new services and revenue opportunities.

Coinciding with the Mobile World Congress 2011 fair, Cisco has presented MOVE (Monetization, Optimization, Videoscape Experience), an innovative platform designed so that service operators can manage, optimize and make profitable the growing volume of mobile data traffic.

This platform, which includes Mobile Videoscape, Service Provider Wi-Fi and Adaptive Intelligent Routing (AIR) solutions, represents the next phase in Cisco's mobility strategy for service providers, helping them monetize and optimize their networks while offering personalized mobile services over wired and wireless networks.

The new MOVE solutions span the entire mobile network, from client devices to network infrastructure and the Internet cloud, and are specially designed to respond to the exponential growth in the volume of mobile video and data traffic.

According to the latest Cisco VNI (Visual Networking Index) Report on Global Mobile Data Traffic 2010-2015, video will account for 66 percent of all global mobile data traffic by 2015, more than doubling each year between 2010 and 2015.

Innovative technologies

Among the innovative technologies that are part of Cisco MOVE are Cisco Mobile Videoscape, a solution that allows operators to provide consumers with an optimized mobile video experience through new technologies included in the Cisco ASR 5000 and Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) platforms. These platforms allow you to connect the mobile network with the extensive video distribution network provided by Cisco Videoscape, relying on its complete Content Distribution capabilities. The solution also leverages the capabilities of the new Cisco Videoscape Media Suite to facilitate efficient and cost-effective content management across multiple displays.

As for Service Provider Wi-Fi, it is a complete, top-quality solution that allows service providers to use Wi-Fi networks to download mobile data. This efficient and intelligent solution, which is based on Cisco's Next Generation Hotspot Technology, provides a transparent, standardized and highly secure authentication platform capable of facilitating roaming and the distribution of new mobile services and experiences. The solution also includes the new Cisco Aironet 1550 Series outdoor wireless access point equipped with CleanAir technology, allowing service providers to offer highly secure and low-cost coverage in specific areas such as sports centers or transport routes combined with the download of large mobile content.

Cisco Adaptive Intelligent Routing (AIR) reduces the costs of mobile data traffic by providing intelligence to the services offered through the network. Extending across the Cisco ASR 1000, Cisco ASR 5000, and Cisco ASR 9000 platforms, Cisco AIR distributes and shares network intelligence to interact and communicate with individual classes of traffic and to optimize traffic routing and provide the best service experience at the lowest cost. Cisco AIR enables the network to make intelligent decisions about when and where to direct traffic.

Advantages

MOVE enables mobile operators to optimize the flow of mobile video traffic, reducing the costs associated with radio access network (RAN) access by up to 27 percent, according to a recent study published by ACG Research titled Hyperconnectivity and the Video Challenge: Can Cisco’s MOVE Help the Mobile Operator.

Among other possibilities, it provides self-repair and automatic optimization functions to obtain high reliability and high performance. Additionally, it enables video downloading and mobile data traffic over a Wi-Fi network with the same level of service, facilitating new services and revenue opportunities.

Por último, facilita nuevos modelos de negocio y proporciona una mayor calidad y una mejor personalización de la experiencia de vídeo móvil.
