Evertz to integrate RIST (VSF TR06) for live video transport over unmanaged networks
It will implement RIST (VSF TR06) on its Mediator and Overture platforms as an important step in the transition to IP-based and cloud-based broadcast solutions.
Evertz has announced the integration of Reliable Internet Stream Transport (RIST), currently under technical recommendation TR06 the Video Services Forum, to its portfolio of file-based products, including both Mediator-X as Overture Playout.
Mediator-X is Evertz's powerful unified file-based operations platform for playout and content supply chain automation solutions, while Overture Playout is Evertz's linear playout solution used worldwide by the industry's leading media companies. RIST (VSF TR06) is an interoperable standard for transporting live video over unmanaged networks, developed jointly by a large group of experts, who have invested hundreds of years of real-world experience in the specifications, and which is based on existing RFC standards.
Integrating the technology into Overture's products will enable Overture to transmit and receive reliable video transport streams over unmanaged networks, and brings our successful implementations to an interoperable standard that is supported across the industry. The Overture platform with RIST includes support for mezzanine-level bit rates up to 150+ Mb/s, allowing the Overture platform to be used for a wide range of broadcast applications.
“The integration and implementation of RIST (VSF TR06) on the Mediator and Overture platforms is another important step for the industry as we transition to IP-based and cloud-based broadcast solutions, and reaffirms Evertz's commitment to interoperable standards,” said Martin Whittaker, technical product manager at Evertz.
