Unanimity at the Oscars for the technical height of 'Inception'

The Hollywood Academy has recognized the great technical value of Christopher Nolan's film, 'Inception', which has won the Oscar for visual effects, sound editing, sound mixing and photography, thus tying with the four statuettes of 'The King's speech' which managed to win the prestigious awards for best film, director, original screenplay and leading actor on Sunday night.

Although he competed in a total of twelve candidates, The King's speech is, without a doubt, one of the big winners of the night of the 83rd edition of the Oscars held on Sunday night at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles. Tom Hooper's film, with a dozen nominations, won the golden statuette for best film, best direction, original screenplay (work by David Seidler) and leading actor (Colin Firth).

However, the surprise of the night came from Inception (Origen). Christopher Nolan's film swept the technical categories, winning the Oscar for best visual effects developed by Paul Franklin, Chris Corbould, Andrew Lockley and Peter Bebb. The sound of this film won the awards for best sound, the work of Richard King, and for the best mixes worked with care by Lora Hirschberg, Gary A. Rizzo and Ed Novick.

The Academy also knew how to value the work behind the camera as director of photography of Wally Pfister, who left candidates such as Roger Deakins, in charge of photography, without an award with his first Oscar. In short films, it was a great night for the documentary Stranger No More by Karen Goodman and Kirk Simon; the animation tape The Lost Thing by Shaun Tan and Andrew Ruhemann; and the fiction of God of Love directed by Luke Matheny. As expected, Toy Story 3, Lee Unkrich's project, won the award for best animated feature.

On the opposite side, we find the great fiascos of the gala. The social network (La red social) It had to settle for better music, adapted script and editing (directed by Angus Wall and Kirk Baxter) out of a total of eight nominations. With empty hands they left True grit, the Coen brothers' western (which started with ten nominations) and 127 hours (with six nominations).
