EVS will present at NAB 2011 its latest solutions designed to offer the highest performance and which include: advanced production and content management tools that offer greater agility in production; new production tools for sporting events with extensive graphic display and live 3D editing; and its range of MXF-based EVS-OpenCube solutions for tape ingestion and workflow digitization.

EVS at NAB 2011 or is set to unveil a range of integrated solutions and applications to streamline production operations.

Among them, IPDirector stands out. Its latest version offers broadcasters and producers a unique opportunity to boost the speed and efficiency of their workflows. Its innovative architecture, modularity and advanced database management system means it can easily adapt to a wide variety of TV and production installations. At NAB the new API and MOS protocol support will be presented that ensures complete interoperability with all types of third-party systems, such as asset management, automation and NRCS that includes Avid I-News, ENPS or Annova systems. We can also see extended integration with non-linear editing systems, including media exchange with Avid editors and new export plug-ins for Final Cut Pro designed so that users can easily export edited sequences or work requests to an EVS server or near-line storage.

EVS will also present Xedio Flash, an integrated hardware and software system that offers all the features of a newsroom in a single system. Xedio Flash has been designed for small and regional newsrooms in a turnkey newsroom system that fits into a single 16RU rack and includes ingest, production, editing, storage and output modules.

The system has been optimized for agile production with editing while ingest and output appear without rendering. It is a full format agnostic platform with native support of multiple SD/HD codecs (including XDCAM, Avid DNxHD, Apple ProRES) with the ability to mix SD/HD files in the same timeline. In addition, its open architecture and seamless file sharing with third-party “craft” editors and MOS Gateway for data exchange with NRCS.

Sports broadcasts

For the production of sports broadcasts from mobile units to broadcast centers, EVS will strengthen the impact of live sports with the introduction of a new generation of media production and management solutions that overcome the barriers of live productions. Among the novelties that we will see at NAB 2011, the advanced live graphics solution Epsio stands out and its new graphic tools that offer a range of overlapping auto-generated live graphics integrated into the LSM remote controller, which will be presented in 3D mode, as well as with third-party graphic integration.

For 3D live editing, IPEdit stands out, which will be presented with its new 3D feature that allows you to work instantly on live 3D ingests that have been recorded on the EVS XT series server for previews and highlight editing.

EVS will also showcase its latest integrations with third-party HyperMotion systems at its booth and will also unveil 3D SuperMotion on an XT-LSM platform.

As far as tape ingest and MXF tools are concerned, the new EVS-OpenCube division will present the latest versions of its tape ingest and DCP servers based on advanced MXF file and native multi-codec support (XDCAM HD, JPEG2000, Avid DNxHD), which offers an efficient format to producers and operators to streamline production and post-production and D-cinema digitization processes.

In addition, the MXF division of EVS will present ENGSoft, its new solution for ENG XDCAM and P2 files, as well as importing metadata associated with the Avid editing environment.

Broadcast post-production

For solutions to optimize post-production operations in broadcast environments, EVS will showcase Director's Cut, a new IPDirector feature that allows you to streamline or support the director's cut along with different ISO clips and metadata such as an EDL in native format to Avid or Apple Final Cut Pro. We will also see Insio, an ideal tool for recording and streamlining the production of TV series or dramas and includes multiple camera angle review, selection, clip creation and transfer to post-production. For its part, ProNotes is an intuitive metadata management tool associated with Insio that allows adding descriptive tags linked to each sequence for production and post-production teams. At the NAB Show we will even see ProNotes on iPad.
