Mitsubishi Electric has unveiled the new “Geo Cosmos” OLED installation, the world's first spherical OLED located at the National Museum of Science and Innovation in Tokyo.
Suspended 18 meters above the ground, the sphere that represents the Earth has a diameter and is built in aluminum covered with 10,362 OLED panels, each measuring 96x96 mm.
On the occasion of the Museum's 10th anniversary, Mitsubishi Electric has used scalable OLED technology to replace the previous installation made with LED technology.
The sphere projects images of the Earth taken from a meteorological satellite offering a resolution of more than 10 million pixels, about 10 times greater than the previous LED screen.
