Digital Video Enterprises (DVE) made a splash at InfoComm 2011 by showing an interesting augmented reality and virtual telepresence system that, under the name of Telepresence Podium, allows any speaker to be present remotely as if it were a holographic recreation.
During the Orlando fair we were able to see a live intervention from Irvine (California) along with some 3D animations.
DVE has patented this augmented reality system for videoconferencing and telepresence environments. Unlike virtual reality, which places people in a virtual world, augmented reality offers ultra-realistic images in the real world.
This system, which has already been used by the United States government, is designed for teletraining, corporate communications and special events.
