Endemol trusts Editshare for the edition of 'Big Brother' in Jakarta
Endemol has chosen EditShare Flow, XStream and Ark solutions for the production of 'Big Brother' in Jakarta. These solutions help you better manage the frenetic pace of the reality show production cycle with total reliability.
Endemol has opted for solutions from EditShare Flow, XStream and Ark for the production of Big Brother Jakarta. The producer of star spaces in primetime such as Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Star Academy o The Money Drop will add with Editshare a layer of automation in the production of Big Brother automating the flow of media ingest from multiple cameras and microphones placed around the house directly into the Xstream shared storage system.
The material can thus be viewed from any standard desktop connected to the network, so it is not necessary to have a dedicated editing room and allowing producers and editors to collectively access the material.
Designed especially for editors and post environments, these tools allow the creation of preselected sequences, saving time in the final editing room. Once in place, the Xstream storage system centralizes all material and facilitates media sharing, allowing multiple editors to Big Brother work on a recording at the same time.
Frantic pace
Claudia Vermeulen, production consultant for Endemol, stated that “Editshare systems help us better manage the frenetic pace of the production cycle of Big Brother Jakarta. Reliability is very important to us. There is no possibility of second takes in a reality show. There are multiple cameras recording video 24 hours a day, and EditShare has been perfect in ensuring that every second is recorded for our audience.”
Paul Hayes, VP of Sales and MKT at EditShare Asia-Pacific, added: “Editshare provides a structure where the production team can step back and establish a timeline for story development long before it goes into post-production. Big Brother have deployed the Editshare workflow with the same degree of satisfaction. We have listened to the needs of the market and the development of the features requested by our customers. “We are proud to have a solution for the reality genre, and we have long-term plans to extend these capabilities beyond what we offer now.”
Ark supports workflow with fully integrated archive and media protection with Flow and Xstream, providing a tiered storage environment with full archive restore across disk and tape-based models. Media protection not only gives the production team peace of mind but becomes an integral part of the workflow when moving media files to LTO-5 tapes.
All editors can access archived clips in Flow through a proxy Browse. In this way they can select material and edit sequences with the proxy versions, restoring the selected material in high resolution at any time without the need for any additional engineering support.
