EVS streamlines the production of the XIV World Swimming Championships
CCTV Sports, as host of the XIV FINA World Swimming Championships, has relied on EVS servers and its content management technology for its operations. In total, CCTV has employed fifteen XT2 servers installed in four mobile units intended to facilitate slow-motion replays, live editing, and highlight production.
CCTV Sports, as host of the XIV FINA World Swimming Championships, recently held in Shanghai, has relied on the servers of EVS and its content management technology for its operations. EVS technology has been used in both mobile units and the International Broadcast Center (IBC).
With more than 80% market share, CCTV has been responsible for bringing these championships to the entire world, offering superior technology coverage with an ambitious production plan. Having been involved in the production of the Olympic Games and the Asian Games, CCTV Sports has extensive experience and an experienced technical team capable of ensuring complete and seamless coverage of the entire event.
In total, CCTV has employed fifteen XT2 servers installed in four mobile units intended to facilitate slow-motion replays, live editing, and highlight production in swimming, synchronized swimming, diving, water polo and open water swimming. Three mobile units were deployed outside three venues at the Eastern Sports Center, including the Indoor Stadium, Outdoor Diving Pool and the Natatorium. A mobile unit was deployed to Jinshan City Beach.
At IBC, EVS deployed for CCTN two HD Content management at the IBC was ensured by nine IPDirector workstations, facilitating the ingestion, logging, browsing, sharing and playout control of all material. This integrated solution was used to quickly ingest material, as well as facilitate storage and sharing with the media that had the rights, allowing rapid delivery of summaries and highlights. Its interoperability with Final Cut Pro made it easier for editors to prepare daily summaries. Once each 52-minute summary was completed, it was immediately available to the different production teams through a simple GigE network.

The flag of the International Swimming Federation (FINA) now rests in the hands of the city of Barcelona. Maite Fandos, Deputy Mayor for Sports of the Barcelona City Council, received during the closing of the Shanghai Championships the most representative symbol of that organization as a sign of the Catalan capital's willingness to organize the 15 FINA World Swimming Championships that will take place in 2013.
