China will launch its first 3D channel in 2012

Starting in January 2012, China will have its first stereoscopic channel in which six broadcasters will participate.

China's first 3D television channel will go live on a trial basis on January 1, 2012, and will go into official operation during the upcoming Spring Festival (Lunar New Year) at the end of January, according to government authorities.

Cai Fuchao, head of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, stated that “we have officially started preparations to launch the first 3D channel in the country, issuing technical guidelines on the production and transmission of 3D television programs.”

Six Chinese broadcasters will work jointly on the project, including China Central Television CCTV.

The Legend of the Rabbit Knight

With an investment of 120 million yuan and a production of 3 years, the first Chinese 3D animated film has already been completed. The film is titled The Legend of the Rabbit Knight y está inspirado en el Dios Conejo, figura de un tradicional jueguete de Beijing. La película se exhibirá en el verano del próximo año.
