SES Astra will launch a 4K demonstration channel in 2013

This demo channel will broadcast in 4K format with 3,840x 2,160 resolution starting in 2013 in Germany.

A new DTH service from SES Astra will serve points of sale so that they have the opportunity to feed the new Ultra HD televisions directly from the satellite.

This demo channel will broadcast in 4K format with 3,840x 2,160 resolution starting in 2013 in Germany.

The information has just been confirmed by the director of Astra Deutschland, Wolfgang Elsasser, in an interview with the German magazine Infosat.

To take full advantage of Ultra HD resolution, the user would have to purchase one of the new television models compatible with this option.
