PlayBox makes the most of COTS hardware

The new hardware acceleration technology allows maximum results to be achieved with standard equipment with reduced investments, offering the possibility of carrying out numerous rescaling, re-encoding or reformatting processes from several sources on the same server simultaneously.

PlayBox Technology, an international reference in the development of multichannel broadcast systems, continues its successful history of innovation with the integration of its most recent software with the new hardware acceleration technology. This provides greater reliability using standard hardware solutions, resulting in cost savings.

By exploiting the opportunities of the latest generation of Intel Core processors, PlayBox Technology is able to optimize the solutions we find commercially off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware to achieve maximum results with reduced investments. The combination of new chipsets and video cards, fully integrated with PlayBox technology software, offers high value for money. The results are simultaneous processes such as encoding, decoding and reformatting of multiple sources on the same server. This hardware acceleration translates into more channels per server, and paves the way for additional features in future products.

AirBox MPO

Un ejemplo de estos nuevos desarrollos lo podemos encontrar ya en el AirBox MPO (Multiple Parallel Outputs) que utiliza la aceleración por hardware para reescalar y codificar varios flujos de vídeo de forma simultánea. Permite trabajar al mismo tiempo con diferentes formatos de vídeo (SD, HD, 25fps, 30 fps) y diferentes salidas (SDI, analógica, streaming IP…) para ejecutar de forma simultánea desde un único servidor. AirBox MPO puede ejecutar dos o más salidas múltiples, ofreciendo salidas en paralelo para contar con cualquier combinación necesaria de formatos, tales como HD-SDI, SDI (SD en tiempo real con cambio de escalado en vivo) y streaming IP.
Otras aplicaciones de la tecnología de aceleración por hardware las encontramos en la renderización de objetos gráficos 3D en tiempo real con TitleBox o la codificación de HD para H.264 sin necesidad de utilizar codificadores externos.
