Smart Viera applications get the most out of your TV

The London Olympic Games can be enjoyed through the RTVE on-demand television service available on Panasonic Smart Viera. Panasonic is also committed to proximity applications developed by Spanish creators such as 20minutes.es, Wuaki.tv and Red Karaoke.

Smart television is increasingly present in homes around the world and Panasonic is one of the main companies that has opted for this new era where the television multiplies its functions.

Despite being a global strategy, Panasonic dedicates part of its efforts to adapting to the needs and tastes of each country and developing exclusive applications.

Thanks to this vision of proximity, Panasonic has reached an agreement with RTVE to offer TVE's on-demand television service on its Viera Connect platform. In this way, for example, these days it will be possible to enjoy the most special moments of the London Olympic Games whenever and however many times you want. RTVE, the only channel that broadcasts the 2012 Olympic Games, will broadcast 60 hours of Olympic programming daily through its different television channels.

The agreement with RTVE is not the only one made at the national level. Also, from Panasonic Smart Viera televisions, you can consult all the information produced by the leading free newspaper 20minutos.es. In this way, the television becomes an online newspaper with which it is possible to catch up with the most up-to-date news; and not only through written news, but most of them are accompanied by videos prepared by the same editorial team of 20minutos.es.

Panasonic was also one of the first companies to support Wuaki.tv, a young Spanish company that is succeeding in our country and that provides the Smart Viera with an integrated video store service with a wide catalog of premiere movies and series. Without the need for monthly fees or permanence, Wuaki.tv offers over the top (OTT) video content, in which the user selects what they want to watch and when.

Wuaki.tv is an example of the commitment to local developers to which Red Karaoke is added. This application has been created by the Spanish Miguel Ángel Díez Ferreira and offers songs in playback format with more than 45,000 full-screen songs.

The catalog is constantly growing with the hits of today and always. Red Karaoke has been so successful that it has been adapted for different countries.

Another characteristic of this application, founded in Spain, is that it was created through another of Panasonic's most prominent applications: the Viera Connect “Developer” portal in which individuals can develop their application for Smart Viera.

Sports, games and social networks

The Viera Connect platform is full of diverse applications that aim to satisfy different user needs. Thus, for example, the “Get Fit” application is available with which it is possible to exercise at home and even link additional accessories such as digital scales or heart rate monitors designed for Panasonic televisions.
It also has all types of video games aimed at people of any gender and age. From puzzles, word games or educational games for children, to surprisingly advanced games that allow experiences similar to those of video game consoles.

Communication with other people could not be missing on the Viera Connect platform either. Therefore, it is also possible to connect to the social networks of Facebook or Twitter through the television. In addition, the Smart Viera are “multitasking”, which means that it is possible to continue doing other tasks on the television, such as watching football while chatting with friends.

Another way to communicate is through Skype, so that the television becomes a video conferencing system. The only thing necessary is to install a camera on top of the television. This camera can be purchased, for example, through the television in the Online Store where there are also many other accessories for the television.

One of the most recent applications is the “Swipe and Share. Launch. Share. Enjoy” application that allows you to transfer a photo, music file, video or web pages from a tablet or smartphone to the TV with a single finger. It is as simple and fast as “drag”, for example, the video file from the screen of our smartphone and it will instantly appear on the screen of the Smart Viera television.

Among the rest of the applications are viewing concerts in HD with iConcert, listening to more than 10,000 radio stations from around the world, watching videos on YouTube or free internet browsing. In addition, VIERA Connect offers Market Apps, a service that allows the possibility of downloading video games and other applications that are stored in the cloud through VIERA Connect.
