Director Fernando Colomo concludes the filming of 'The Picasso Band' in Budapest (Hungary) this week, after more than a month and a half of filming in the city "that most resembles Paris at the beginning of the 20th century."

The new film by the author of The barbaric years y South of Granada It is based on the young years of the painter from Malaga in the French capital, between 1907 and 1911, when he was arrested with his friend Guillaume Apollinaire for the theft of La Mona Lisa from the Louvre Museum in Paris. This event that kept the world in suspense marked 100 years last August and even today information about those involved continues to appear.

The Picasso gang was the name by which the group of friends of the author of The ladies of Avignon, which included, in addition to the critic and poet Apollinaire, Max Jacob, the Catalan sculptor Manolo Hugué, the painters Georges Braque and Marie Laurencin, and his partner, Fernande Olivier.

La banda Picasso reúne a una quincena de actores internacionales, entre ellos a los españoles Ignacio Mateos (Pablo Picasso) y Jordi Vilches (Manolo Hugué), a quienes acompañan los intérpretes franceses Pierre Bénézit (Guillaume Apollinaire), Lionel Abelanski (Max Jacob), Raphaëlle Agogué (Fernande Olivier), Louise Monot (Marie Laurencin), Stanley Weber (Georges Braque), Thomas Jouanet (Henri-Pierre Roché), Alexis Michalik (Barón) y Tony Gaultier (Henri Matisse). Además, se encuentran también en el reparto el norteamericano afincado en París, David Coburn (Leo Stein), y las actrices rumanas Cristina Toma (Gertrude Stein) y Eszter Tompa (Alice Toklas).
