Salva Reina plays Quique, an unemployed chirigotero who tries to keep his family afloat while preparing for the next chirigotas contest. Meanwhile, El Tuti (Joaquín Núñez), a local trafficker, wants me to help him rob the largest drug warehouse in Spain, before they burn all the seized merchandise.
Colomo is very satisfied with the work of the actors. “It has been very special to have Salva Reina, Manuela Velasco, Maggie Civantos, Joaquín Núñez, Manuel Manquiña and the rest of the performers because I had never worked with them and it has been a pleasant surprise,” comments the director of Isla Bonita and La Tribu.
The cast also includes the great figures of the Cádiz Carnival, such as Selu, Vera Luque, José Mari and Javier Aguilera, “who have brought a lot of truth as well as a great sense of humor to the film,” says Fernando Colomo.
Antonio Carmona and the young Fernando Furones are responsible for the musical composition of Ante de la quema, in which the actors María Alfonsa Rosso, Vicente Romero, César Mateo and Sebastián Haro also participate.
The project has its origins in the participation of the producer Beatriz de la Gándara as jury for the best screenplay award Julio Alejandro de la SGAE Foundation, becoming interested in it and launching it with the participation of Fernando Colomo in its different versions, up to its current production.
