RTVE awards Avid the HD production environments for London 2012
Avid Technology International wins the 4,012,000 euro tender for the production of HD files for the London 2012 Olympic Games. The London Games will cost RTVE around 70 million euros.
The Spanish Radio and Television Corporation has awarded Avid Technology International a file-based high definition production system for the London 2012 Olympic Games, for an amount of 4,012,000 euros.
The Contracting Body of the RTVE Corporation, at the proposal of the Purchasing Management Committee, has formalized this week the improved offer dated October 7, 2011, from Avid Technology International.

The London Games, which will be held in the British capital from July 27 to August 12, 2012, will cost RTVE around 70 million euros, including the purchase of audiovisual rights and other infrastructure and service rental expenses. The acquisition of the images alone represents about 57 million.
The bill for the Games could derail RTVE's budget for 2012 (at the moment extended, as in the central administration bodies). For next year, its spending ceiling is 1.2 billion euros, the same amount as 2011. But the Games involve extra expenses of 70 million.
To prevent London 2012 from unbalancing the corporation's accounts, RTVE has started talks with other operators, mainly paid, to share emission rights.
