Vimeo announces new Apple iOS App at Mobile World Congress

The new Vimeo iOS App with native support for iPhone and iPad adds to the Vimeo app series. The app includes a built-in video editor that allows users to create and upload motion videos.

Vimeo, an IAC company, announced this Monday at the Mobile World Congress taking place in Barcelona the availability of its second-generation Apple iOS app, which includes native compatibility for iPhone and iPad.

Joseph Schmitt, mobile developer at Vimeo, said: "We've seen mobile traffic triple since we launched our original iPhone app in early 2011. Now, we've taken what we've learned while creating our previous apps and applied it to the updated iOS to improve the overall design and usability. We're especially pleased with the iPad's great user interface, which the Vimeo community has been long-awaited for."

Available this week, the new Vimeo Apple iOS offers a discovery-based experience. Users can browse while playing videos, just like on the Vimeo site. Vimeo members can like videos, access their Feed queue, Watch Later, and previously liked videos; comment on the videos; add videos to your Watch Later queue; and browse and view all videos on Vimeo. Additionally, the app includes a built-in video editor that allows users to create and upload motion videos. The editor also integrates the Vimeo Music Store, making it easy to add a soundtrack to a video.

The Vimeo iOS app is available for free from the iTunes App Store and is compatible with iPhone 3GS and higher, iPad, iPod Touch, and iOS4.3 and higher.
