More than 300,000 Canal+ users already use the Yomvi multi-device service
Canal+ has announced the penetration of its new multi-device connected television service Yomvi just four months since its launch. Currently, there are more than 300,000 customers who enjoy the Yomvi service, accessing it from some 600,000 connected devices.
Barely four months since the launch of the Yomvi multi-device connected television service, Canal+ has made a first assessment of the development of this service and its consumption in the new digital framework connected to broadband. And Yomvi from Canal+ allows content to be consumed where, how and when the user wants.
According to a GFK report from January 2012, 10% of Canal+ users already have connected television, while 17% have a tablet.
Currently, as confirmed by Stephen Dove, general director of the Digital Area of PRISA Tv, Canal+ would have 300,000 customers who enjoy the Yomvi service who would have some 600,000 connected devices. These users have carried out more than one and a half million downloads in just four months.
Álvaro Yusti, director of research and Customer Knowledge at Canal+, highlighted that "customers who enjoy canal+ Yomvi are more loyal than the rest. What users of this service value most is the accessibility of VoD (49%), content (30%), price (28%) and multi-device access (24%)".
Yusti has highlighted that accessibility on mobile devices becomes more important for the user when it comes to accessing live events in real time. On the contrary, in the world of VoD, the value of Yomvi compared to pay TV or free TV is fiction. The contribution of cinema in the on-demand service of canal+ reaches 67%, followed by series and soap operas with 13%.
VoD means more fragmentation. Therefore, it is worth noting that a title as outstanding at the box office as Torrent 4 has managed to contribute just 1% to the VoD of Yomvi's film offering. However, Pirelli calendar o Beyonce World Tour They manage to contribute 10 and 19%, respectively.
On the other hand, it has drawn attention to the absence of audiometry data by Kantar Media in reference to devices such as iPlus or multi-device access, as well as the need to change the concept of viewer to that of user.
Tendencies
Javier Alvira, director of corporate strategy at Samsung, has shown his conviction that we are living in a third wave of computing in which the user has several computers or devices connected to the Internet from which to access content in an “anyscreen” strategy.
Alvira has emphasized the need to convey to users the advantages of having connected devices. “Social networks, thanks to the ability to use several screens simultaneously, are dynamizing the experience, enriching the content that is being seen through comments and ratings,” Alvira highlighted.
A study by Cocktail Analysis carried out in Spain in the last quarter of 2011 ensures that 87% of users regularly access television websites, with the home (41%) being the main place of access to these online audiovisual contents.
Alvira has stated that, without a doubt, in its on-demand TV interface, Smart Hub, content is king, working in close collaboration with local partners such as Canal+, Marca, Real Madrid or Unedisa. The Canal+ application integrated into Samsung televisions allows you to enjoy Yomvi's content offering from the television itself, connected only to electricity and the Internet.
