Ericsson to provide contribution and distribution to NBC during London 2012
High efficiency MPEG-4 AVC compression will allow NBC to maximize the content value of the London Olympic Games which will take place from July 27, 2012 to August 12.
Ericsson will provide a range of video processing solutions and support services to NBC Sports for the London Olympic Games. The announcement was made this Thursday by David Mazza, senior vice president of engineering at NBC Olympics, and Staffan Pehrson, vice president and director of television at Ericsson.
Ericsson's solution will help deliver NBC Olympics content in HD, both in contribution and distribution, ensuring the highest image quality from Olympic venues to millions of viewers in the United States. Ericsson will supply a wide range of products, including MPEG-4 AVC encoders, professional receivers, multiplexers and satellite modulators.
Ericsson will also provide NBC with a technical support team, both in London and New York.
