AJA announces at NAB the expansion of the Ki Pro family with the new Quad and Pro Rack. Additionally, it announces support for the upcoming release of Adobe Creative Suite 6 software, along with AJA's Io Express, Io XT and KONA family of products for customers using Mac and Windows.

The new Ki Pro Quad from AJA is capable of capturing high-quality edit-ready files in formats including 4K (4096 x 2160), Quad HD (3840 x 2160), 2K (2048 x 1080) and HD (1920 x 1080) to find the fastest path from camera to editing with 10-bit 4:4:4 and 10-bit 4:2:2 color support.

Ki Pro Quad facilitates a powerful 4K workflow, accepting RAW camera input via SDI simultaneously, distributing data via Thunderbolt. The recorder also performs downstream processing of the RAW data which can be used to produce Apple ProRes recordings on medium SSD. HD, 2K and 4K files recorded on swappable SSD media can be easily used in a variety of popular non-linear editors.

The debayer image produced by the Ki Pro Quad can also be used for real-time 4K monitoring. A scaled or cropped output is also available simultaneously for 2K or HD monitoring via dedicated SDI HDMI connections.

We can also see at NAB the new Ki Pro Rack, which allows you to record high quality edit-ready files to find the fastest path from camera to edit in a new 1RU rack.

The Ki Pro Rack uses the same SSD or spinning disk storage modules as the Ki Pro, with recording capabilities scaling up to 500GB. The Ki Pro Rack simplifies the acquisition-to-edit workflow by creating high-quality Apple ProRes 422 or Avid DNxHD files that can be used directly in most professional editing systems without any need to import or transcode the files.

Support for Adobe Creative Suite 6

AJA has announced at NAB planned support for the upcoming release of Adobe Creative Suite 6 software, along with AJA's Io Express, Io XT and KONA family of products for customers running Mac and Windows. New drivers supporting Adobe Creative Suite 6 will be available as a free download shortly after the new Adobe Creative Suite 6 products are released.

The new AJA drivers will provide additional support for Adobe Creative Suite 6 applications and streamline the performance of AJA video I/O solutions with Adobe's new plug-in architecture, called Adobe Mercury Transmit. All new AJA drivers will support video out in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 via the new Transmit plug-in.

Supporting Avid DNxHD

AJA has streamlined targets for post-production workflows with the introduction of its Ki Pro family of portable video recorders. The newest product in the family, the Ki Pro Mini, is in high demand as it facilitates direct camera-to-edit workflows that eliminate the time-consuming video encoding step. AJA has released new firmware v4.0 for the Ki Pro Mini, offering support for the Avid DNxHD video codec, enabling even more production efficiency for Avid Media Composer family customers.

T-TAP

The Las Vegas event also marks the arrival of T-TAP. It is a very small bus-enabled device that takes advantage of Thunderbolt connectivity for high-quality 10-bit, SD, HD and 2K distribution via SDI and HDMI connections. This new adapter offers an easy and discreet method to get professional video and audio from any Thunderbolt-enabled Mac system.
