Primer Roland Garros en HbbTv
France Télévisions, with IBM and Panasonic as technological partners, will enrich the broadcast of the Roland Garros tournament in a hybrid HbbTv environment.
Hybrid television based on HbbTv will take a new step when the popular Roland Garros tournament starts on May 29. France Télévision, with IBM and Panasonic as technological partners, it will develop ambitious coverage based on hybrid television and the HbbTv standard.
This hybrid approach will allow viewers to not only follow the broadcast live but also access a wealth of information and exclusive content such as real-time statistics, up-to-the-minute information and images of the participants.
France Television will cover a total of 130 hours through its France 2, France 3 and France 4 channels, including stereoscopic broadcasts thanks to Panasonic's 3D capture systems.
This first experience with HbbTV at Roland Garros has been launched in just three weeks. To access this enriched experience offered by hybrid television, the viewer will only have to press the access button on their smart television on those programs identified with the HbbTv logo.
Along with the media content, France Television has developed an application on HTML 4+JavaScript, since it has chosen not to use HTML 5 as it is not yet standardized.
WizTiVi has participated in the development, which has designed the user interface and collects data through IBM servers that manage the sports information of the competition, and then injects the data into the stream over the Internet (Wiztivi's scalable cloud platform on Amazon), as well as the broadcast signal.
