IDS, a division of SMT, has used the real-time 3D rendering engine of Brainstorm Multimedia for graphics during the 2012 Roland Garros Tennis Championships that concluded yesterday in Paris.
Its graphics systems used the eStudio real-time 3D graphics engine for the generation and broadcast of all scoreboard and statistical graphics used during the tournament by France 2, France 3 and France 4 in their Roland Garros production. These graphics were produced in up to seven simultaneous matches, and broadcast in French and English in real time. These same graphics were reused by broadcasters around the world.
Roland Garros coverage reaches more than 170 countries, by 137 broadcasters. The graphics service was provided by IDS in collaboration with IBM, Official IT Partner of Roland Garros. IDS is an IBM business partner, and at this event it prepared and configured the graphics systems and provided the necessary personnel for the operation and management of production.
IDS has used Brainstorm's eStudio engine in numerous sports productions and other services with excellent results, such as in The Tennis Channel's virtual studio for the 2011 US Open tennis or in the production of Wimbledon 2011 for the BBC and in stereoscopic 3D, the latter awarded last IBC as Outstanding Achievement in Stereo 3D. For Roland Garros IDS used the eStudio V12 engine, the most recent version of eStudio, capable of covering practically all the graphic needs of broadcasters of all types. eStudio is used for real-time 3D graphics, data presentation, billboards, headers or complete virtual studio productions.
