France Tv - Roland Garros 2025 - Wildmoka - Backlight

The deployment of a three-pillar strategy driven by Wildmoka (Backlight) has allowed France Televisions achieve record numbers of digital participation and audience in its coverage of the Roland-Garros 2025 tournament.

Looking ahead to the coverage of the latest edition of Roland-Garros, French radio and television had as one of its main objectives to attract audiences from among 12 and 25 years, accustomed to YouTube and social platforms. The focus had to be digital, but, at the same time, he had to remove UX barriers more frequent to offer a cross-platform access without interruptions, provide new opportunities for monetization and compete with interactive digital platforms like Twitch and YouTube.

To achieve these goals, France Télévisions implemented Wildmoka cloud-based solutions on three fronts. Thanks to Wildmoka Live Studio, television achieved broadcast of the 16 tracks simultaneously on demand, allowing fans to watch any match, at any time and on any device, with personalized commentary and graphics. In parallel, Wildmoka Clip Studio allowed the Instant creation of summaries, recaps and compilations of the best moments, which were published on france.tv and social networks in real time. All of this was collected on the digital channel “france.tv Roland-Garros” created with Wildmoka Channel Studio, which offered exclusive second-screen content, behind-the-scenes footage, influencer commentary, and live chat.

Skander Ben Attia, director of engineering, support processes and media factory of France Télévisions, does not hesitate to affirm that this deployment has represented a “revolutionary change.” "We operate a full digital channel with three employees per shift, which was reduced to just one employee in the last week, compared to the 30 needed for traditional broadcasts. This efficiency allowed us to expand coverage far beyond what was previously economically viable," he says.

The figures of this deployment speak for themselves. France Télévisions managed 46 million viewers in total between television and digital platforms, a historical record; 82 million video views on digital platforms, 70% compared to 2024; 415 million video views on social networks, 130% higher than the figures for 2024, and more than 5 million young viewers (15-24 years old), which is 8% higher than last year.

Following this success, France Télévisions plans to launch a new digital channel for Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, with improved “Fan Zone” functions. In this way, it seeks to “pave” for the future issuance of the French Alps Winter Olympics in 2030, which will be seen on its streaming platform france.tv.
