Panasonic and Sony join forces to manufacture screens with OLED technology
The Sony and Panasonic companies will work together to develop the next generation of OLED panels and modules, in addition to the hardware and technology that surrounds them, for operation in large format televisions and displays.
The two Japanese electronics giants, Sony y Panasonic, have decided to join together to develop new generation panels and modules with the new OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) technology for use in televisions and large screens, as reported by both companies in a statement.
Sony and Panasonic intend to use their main resources for the joint development of next-generation OLED technology, which will be suitable for “mass and low-cost” production of “large, high-resolution” panels and modules. The two companies plan to establish mass production of this technology in 2013, by integrating their “unique technologies” with the aim of “improving the overall efficiency of their development.”
In parallel with this agreement, Sony and Panasonic intend to continue studying their collaboration in the mass production of OLED panels and modules, at the same time that each will also continue to use their own means to develop and market their televisions and large screens with this technology.
