Harmonic announces NSG Pro, its new CCAP platform

Harmonic streamlines the transition to an All-IP Cable infrastructure with NSG Pro, a high-density, highly scalable solution in a converged environment.

Harmonic has announced the launch of NSG Pro, its powerful new Converged Cable Access Platform (CCAP) that offers high-density EdgeQAM capabilities and easy upgrade with Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS). NSG Pro provides QAM density and the ability to converge linear video, on-demand and data into a single system.

Unlike other alternatives, NSG Pro provides cable operators the possibility of migrating to a flexible CCAP and all-IP infrastructure, minimizing operating costs, energy needs, and with great space savings.

Nimrod Ben-Natan, senior vice president and general manager of the Edge and Access unit at Harmonic, highlighted that “NSG Pro leverages Harmonic's experience in integrating intelligent functions and is an upgrade path for CCAP, supporting DOCSIS 3.0, in a unified CCAP chassis that allows operators to redefine their cable architectures.”

Compliant with CCAP specifications, NSG Pro offers cable operators the easiest path to a full CCAP environment with support for EdgeQAM capabilities today and integration of CMTS capabilities in the future through cards that can be incorporated into the same chassis.

Powered by CableOS, the same NSG software that has been successfully integrated into thousands of installations around the world, NSG Pro accelerates service development based on the operator's existing infrastructure.
