The 42nd edition of ALCINE begins
The Alcalá de Henares/Community of Madrid Film Festival is held between November 10 and 16 with 62 short films in competition.
Alcine, the Alcalá de Henares/Community of Madrid Film Festival, which will be held from November 10 to 16 in the Complutense city, will start with a concert and an exhibition. The singer Amparo Sánchez (formerly Amparanoia) will present, at the Teatro Salón Cervantes at 9:30 p.m., her new album Alma de cantaora. Also today at 11:00 the Shooting Manila exhibition will open. Portraits of Filipino filmmakers, by Óscar Fernández Orengo, one of the most interesting photographers of filmmakers on the international scene. The exhibition will be open to the public until December 23 in Santa María la Rica.
The next day, Saturday, November 10, the highlights that characterize the festival will arrive: the National Competition and the European Short Film Competition. This year Alcine has broken the participation record in its two competitive sections, with 1,332 short films registered in the competitive contests. 640 short films have been entered in the National Short Film Contest and 692 in the European Short Film Contest. Finally, 30 will compete in the national section and 32 in the European section.
Throughout the afternoon of Saturday and Sunday, screenings of the short films competing in the respective sections will take place. Those of the European Contest will be projected in the historic Corral de Comedias, which as a novelty is incorporated this year as the new headquarters of the festival, while those of the National Contest will be shown in the Teatro Salón de Cervantes.
In addition, on Friday and Saturday, at 7:00 p.m., you can enjoy A wall is a screen, traveling projections through the streets of the center of Alcalá de Henares, where the walls become movie screens so that both passers-by and participants in the festival can watch the shorts for free, thus enjoying an experience that since 2003 has toured cities throughout Europe.

The Alcalá de Henares/Community of Madrid Film Festival, Alcine, one of the oldest and most prestigious in the country, a reference in the field of short films, reaches its 42nd edition this year. An initiative of the regional government and the Alcalá de Henares City Council in which this year 151 films (137 short films and 14 feature films) can be seen and various workshops, conferences and children's activities can be attended.
Among the programmed cycles specially designed for young people and children, due to their educational nature and training of new audiences, it is worth highlighting 'Languages in short', which uses the short film as a vehicle for language teaching (French, English and German). The appointment is on Monday the 12th and Tuesday the 13th, at 5:30 p.m., at the Teatro Salón Cervantes and at the Corral de Comedias, and on Thursday the 15th and Friday the 16th, at 10:00, at the Teatro Salón Cervantes. 'Children's Things', which aims to bring different animated shorts to the little ones, will be held on Monday the 12th and Tuesday the 13th at 10:00 at the Teatro Salón Cervantes and on Friday the 16th at 5:30 p.m. at the Corral de Comedias.
Among the parallel activities aimed at all types of audiences are also 'El dedo en sore', where different approaches to the particularities of the labor market will be shown, a topic where the short film becomes a witness to the events. The Corral de Comedias will host this activity on Tuesday the 13th at 10:00 p.m. and the Teatro Salón Cervantes on Wednesday the 14th at 7:45 p.m. On Thursday the 15th, at 10:00 p.m., the public will have the opportunity to enjoy comedy, horror and fantastic films thanks to 'Noches Golfas'. With 'Juan Escudero: Passion for the short', tribute will be paid to this recently deceased distributor, passionate about cinema and short films. In this session a selection of short films that have been awarded at Alcine in recent years will be screened. The event will be on Monday the 12th at 10:00 p.m. at the Corral de Comedias and on Wednesday the 14th at 10:00 p.m. at the Salón Cervantes theater.
