Brightcove updates its App Cloud platform with more advanced features
Now, it includes an open Plugin architecture built on integration with third-party services (comScore, GoogleAnalytics), as well as more advanced tools and functionalities that allow more complex integrations and greater segmentation.
Brighcove announced this Friday the update of its new App Cloud platform, which includes a complete restructuring of its architecture and a substantial global improvement that allows it to take a new level over first-generation hybrid platforms such as Adobe PhoneGap.
New features include an open plugin architecture built on integration with third-party services (comScore, GoogleAnalytics), as well as advanced alert services tools, marking a new step in the maturation of mobile HTML application development, and allowing web developers to do more with less costs and complexities associated with native hybrid application development.
Applications have become a critical vehicle for the distribution of content and are currently used by all types of companies and businesses, whether for the dissemination of content and services, or to build long-term customer loyalty. However, to generate the best user experience and greatest functionality, developers find it necessary to build hybrid applications that merge HTML5 with native code, allowing them to take full advantage of both platforms, while maintaining a purely native approach in cases where this is required.
With the update to the App Cloud platform, Brigthcove seeks to surpass featureless hybrid development tools, such as PhoneGap, by developing a more mature end-to-end platform that spans the entire app lifecycle and continues to build audience loyalty.
App Cloud now allows us to offer better segmentation, with individual alerts for users of individual or group applications. This helps organizations drive loyalty by notifying relevant content only to those users who have it among their interests, and developers do not need native development tools to add this functionality to their applications.
The platform's new architecture makes adding more complex app functionality a simple process, compared to conventional “native packaging” platforms like PhoneGap, which require web developers to learn additional tools. The new native plugins allow organizations and developers to offer extensive functionality to their clients, as well as choose from a growing library of plugins, such as the incorporation of email and native audio editors within applications (in-app services), as well as plugins that integrate third-party cloud services, such as Google Analytics.
The new features of the App Cloud platform are available to all clients of this tool, including users of App Cloud Core, the open source version of the platform.
