The judge authorizes the sale of Kodak patents to obtain more than 500 million dollars
Technology companies such as Apple, Google and Microsoft finally obtain 1,100 patents.
A consortium led by Apple, Google and Microsoft will finally obtain 1,100 patents for Kodak in an operation valued at 527 million dollars. The value is well below what Kodak expected, which was trying to get around two billion. However, the company hopes that the sale will help the company overcome its delicate financial situation by being able to meet a series of short-term loans.
700 of these patents are related to LCD screens, and about 400 are related to image capture and manipulation.
Among the companies that have obtained these patents are Apple, Gogole, Microsoft, Adobe, Research In Motion, Samsung, HTC, Fujifilm, Facebook, Shutterfly and Huawei.
