The new NEX-EA50, now on the market, expands the NXCAM line with an interchangeable lens camcorder

The NEX-EA50 camcorder Sony is the latest model in the NXCAM line of professional video products. This versatile new camcorder offers maximum flexibility in lens selection thanks to its E-mount interchangeable lens system, while the large Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor provides creative freedom to capture Full HD video and high-quality photos.

The new style of design means that each user will be able to use it as best suits their needs, being able to quickly change between hand-held and shoulder configurations without the need to incorporate additional accessories.

The unique design of the NEX-EA50 camcorder further enhances its versatility. When the shoulder pad is deployed, the device rests on the shoulder to provide more stability for long shots. By returning the shoulder pad to its original position, you have a camcorder compact enough to use handheld, allowing you to capture a wide variety of shots.

Auto zoom lens

The NEX-EA50 also includes Sony's E-mount lens system with which it is possible to activate autofocus, automatic exposure and the stabilization function during recording. The system's short mount-to-plane distance allows you to attach traditional A-mount lenses via the LA-EA2 adapter, and an unrivaled number of lenses from different brands using third-party adapters.

The NEX-EA50 camcorder includes the new E PZ 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 OSS SELP18200 autozoom E-mount lens. It includes autofocus, continuously variable iris and Optical Steady Shot image stabilization with active mode, which is ideal for recording moving images. It is controlled with two electronic tilting controls located on the side and top handle. When shooting movies, it is possible to achieve a constant zoom speed and slow progressive zoom, something difficult to achieve with manual zoom lenses. Additionally, when using fixed focal length lenses, users can simulate the zoom effect using the intelligent digital zoom function, ensuring perfect shots in fast-action scenes.

The NEX-EA50 incorporates a number of professional features typically associated with NXCAM equipment, such as 2 channels of XLR audio, linear PCM audio, time code, user bits and integrated GPS.

The camcorder can capture 16.1 megapixel snapshots (JPEG format only). Additionally, the NEXEA50 includes an integrated mechanical shutter that prevents shutter blur when taking long-exposure snapshots.

The camcorder supports direct connection of a Sony HXR-FMU128 Flash memory unit, for immediate recording and backup. The camcorder is also compatible with the new Mirroring Memory Stick (MS-PX64/32/16), the first memory card (available in 16, 32 and 64 GB) that incorporates a double recording function (“mirroring”). This means that it produces a duplicate of the material, providing high reliability and data protection.
