Belkin compra Linksys a Cisco

Belkin will acquire Cisco's Home Networking business unit. This purchase will strengthen its position in the home networking market, building on the Linksys brand.

Belkin has reached an agreement for the acquisition of the Home Networks Business Unit of Cisco, including its Linksys brand products.

Following the transaction, Belkin will maintain the Linksys brand, supporting all products and representing approximately 30% of the US retail home and small business networking market.

Belkin and Cisco intend to develop a strategic collaboration on a wide variety of initiatives, including retail distribution, marketing campaigns and products aimed at the service provider market. Through access of all Belkin product lines to specialized Cisco software solutions, a smoother and more trouble-free user experience will be achieved. Bringing together the innovative talents of Linksys and Belkin creates a great platform from which to develop the next generation of home networking technology.

Both companies have not made public the specific financial conditions of the operation. The transaction is subject to several standard completion conditions and its completion is projected for March 2013.
