Harmonic Promedia Carbon MP

Harmonic has launched a cloud-based transcoding service for professional applications, available in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) marketplace. ProMedia Carbon MP is based on Rhozet, also from Harmonic, and enables content creators, service providers and media professionals to convert broadcast-quality video content quickly and affordably into any standard media format.

ProMedia Carbon MP allows users to transcode file-based video content for the cloud. Users can also access the application engine with a familiar XML API to implement highly scalable cloud-based workflows via transcoding. In any scenario, the platform's rich and flexible user API interface allows users to perform a series of critical video operations, such as SD/HD and PAL/NTSC conversions, logo insertion, color correction and processing of multiple subtitling formats.

In addition to saving users the expense of purchasing transcoding licenses, ProMedia Carbon MP supports a wide range of acquisition, non-linear editing, streaming, web and mobile formats, including MXF, XDCAM HD, QuickTime, CableLabs and MP4. The intuitive user interface ensures complete control over all aspects of the transcoding process and simplifies the ability to convert files to any number of available formats, each with a unique set of operations and filters applied.

Harmonic will showcase ProMedia Carbon MP at its booth at NAB 2013.
