The new generation of the Orad HDVG4 platform, in addition to supporting SDI, offers an IP stream output for content distribution to websites, tablets and other devices.

Orad HDVG4U Run will showcase the next generation of its HDVG4 platform at NAB 2013. Powered by a 64-bit operating system and a native 64-bit processing engine, this platform will offer broadcasters significant real-time video and graphics capabilities.

In addition to supporting all HD and SD formats, HDVG4 offers native support for 3G/1080p signals, with flexible configurations and multiple video outputs. Avi Sharir, president and CEO of Orad, highlighted that "HDVG4 is a flexible platform that supports the full range of Orad real-time graphics solutions. For example, HDVG4 can be configured for up to 8 1080p outputs or up to 16 1080i outputs. This is an ideal configuration for on-screen video presentations, generating a very high resolution image from a single box." The high-performance HDVG4 solution can handle the most demanding image requirements with flawless output without any tearing or pixelization.

According to Sharir, "this new generation responds to three years of research and listening to our customers who, among other demands, saw the need to support IP-based workflows. Therefore, in addition to supporting SDI, we have designed the HDVG4 to offer an IP stream output that could be distributed to websites, tablets and other devices."

Another important feature of the HDVG4 is its multi-channel output configuration for multiple formats and resolutions. The HDVG4 platform is designed to respond to this challenge. For example, a single HDVG4 box can generate 4K signal as well as 1080i HD, SD, and IP stream output, automatically taking into account different aspect ratios and formats.

Based on a completely new input and output design, the HDVG4 can handle up to 16 high-definition video inputs, maintaining a constant 2-frame delay regardless of the number of video inputs used. For its part, the clip store makes it easy to play video clips with support for the most common codecs.

Like its predecessor, the HDVG4 is designed to meet the specific needs of the broadcast market. As such, it offers a highly stable playback environment that runs on the virus-free Linux operating system. In terms of redundancy, HDVG4 has a dual power supply, mechanical and software bypass, and a RAID disk system, and SNMP monitoring, among others.
