Snell expands its modular IQ series
Snell will debut at NAB 2013 a series of format converters and a Quad Split IQQSM 3Gbps/HD/SD-SDI system, ideal for local control with LCD screens.
Snell will add to its portfolio of IQ modular solutions, which will debut at NAB 2013, a series of format converters designed to provide exceptional quality conversion at an affordable price. In addition, Snell is also launching the range of Quad Split IQQSM 3Gbps/HD/SD-SDI monitors, ideal for local control with LCD screens.
Steve Cole, product director at Snell, highlighted that "with more than half a million modules in use worldwide by leading media and entertainment companies, Snell IQ is one of the industry's largest and most robust families of modular broadcast solutions. We are continually expanding the range to provide more possibilities to support the evolving needs of our customers, such as the migration to HD and 3Gbps operations with advanced audio. New format converters and “Quad Split monitoring devices are a perfect example of how Snell is redefining the economics of managing a transmission infrastructure, providing powerful functionality at a lower price, while also saving space in any size operation.”
The new IQ modules enable cost-effective yet high-quality conversion of SD, HD and 3Gbps signals for broadcast systems with advanced features for video, audio and metadata.
Based on KudosPro motion adaptive conversion technology, IQ converters are suitable for broadcast applications such as source up/down conversion, SD and HD multicast playout, as well as for integrating SD or HD signals into any workflow.
Quad Split Monitors
As for Snell's new Quad Slit IQQSM monitoring system, it is possible to monitor up to four 3G/HD/SD-SDI input signals on the same screen in quadrant mode along with a graphical representation of eight channels of embedded audio. Ideal for studio monitoring or mobile units, this Snell proposal is capable of providing all four signals on a single HDMI or DVI output to allow integration with any display. The IQQSM module also features an SDI output which allows the signal to be directed to other areas of the installation, such as remote control applications or server storage. IQQSM00, the first module in the IQQSM range, provides a low-cost entry-level solution for up to four 3G, HD or SD-SDI sources.
Like all modules in the IQ range, the new IQQSM format converters and monitors come pre-loaded with RollCall control and monitoring with advanced tools such as SMS alerts and other semi-automated functions with integration with automation and third-party systems for management control in the most complex environments.
