Carl Zeiss presents its entire portfolio of lenses for DSLR cameras at NAB 2013
Carl Zeiss is exhibiting lenses in Las Vegas with a total of thirteen focus lengths for F-mount and twelve focus lengths for EF-mount cameras.
At NAB 2013, Carl Zeiss presents its entire portfolio of lenses for DSLR digital reflex cameras, with a total of thirteen focus lengths for F-mount and twelve focus lengths for EF-mount cameras. Also included in this line is the new Distaron T 2.8/15 ultra-wide-angle lens and the new Apo-Sonnar T 2/135 telephoto lens, which began shipping in early 2013.
These manual focus lenses allow precise focusing and include a long angle of focus rotation. As a result they can achieve the exact sharpness that is needed. In addition, they allow for compact camera mounting (even in locations with space problems); create new perspectives and have less impact on the people working on set compared to large cameras. The combination of these features also makes Zeiss SLR lenses a good choice for HD video users when they are shooting interviews, documentaries, music videos or corporate videos.
Richard Schleuning, sales director of the Carl Zeiss camera lens division, said: "These lenses make the addition of high-definition video easy because they provide high image quality and do not require the complicated professional equipment that is so common in cinema lenses. The set of five SLR lenses that we introduced in 2012 has proven very popular with young cinematographers and provides a range of lenses spanning from 21mm to 85mm with a Robust transport case.
Even with all these advantages, SLR lenses can reach their limits when used for video. "When I started, Zeiss SLR lenses were the perfect choice and represented a good base for my work. They gave us great results. However, as you gain experience you begin to have more requirements. This is the reason why I have progressively switched to CP.2 lenses," says Clinton Harn, director of photography.
